Peter Jackson Will Direct ‘The Hobbit’!

Now this is what I’m talking about. The adaptation of Bilbo Baggins’ adventure before Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring ventured off to destroy the One Ring to Rule Them All has been stuck in development hell for what seems like forever. More so recently than ever. First, announced delays, which resulted in Guillermo del Toro dropping off the project, followed by rumors that Peter Jackson would direct the back-to-back films, then rumors that District 9 director Neil Blomkamp would direct; which was false.

Like everyone else, I was extremely disappointed when Guillermo del Toro announced his departure. Luckily, we’ve gotten the second/best choice: Peter Jackson. Deadline reports that Mr. Jackson is finalizing his deal right now with Warner Bros., New Line and MGM. He’ll be flying out to London this July 4th to meet with actors and then back to Los Angeles shortly thereafter to view audition tapes for the film.

Will we actually finally see this movie in theaters? Who knows, but we’re back on the right track.
