Cameron Crowe Directs ‘We Bought a Zoo’

It’s been a while since we’ve seen or heard from director Cameron Crowe since the disappointing Elizabeth Town in 2005. Sure, he has his Pearl Jam documentary coming, but news of his latest project We Bought a Zoo is great news. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the director has signed on to direct an adaptation of a memoir from Benjamin Mee. The project will be produced by Julie Yorn.

“Zoo” tells the true account of how Mee and his family used their life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo, replete with 200 exotic animals facing destruction, in the English countryside.

He has taken over the screenwriting aspect and currently revising the script, originally written by Aline Brosh McKenna. The film has a release date of December 23, 2011.
