‘Judge Dredd’ 3D Reboot Coming

Some of you may remember Judge Dredd from the so-bad-it’s-good adaptation starring Sylvester Stallone back in 1995, but most know the name from the popular comic book series. A 3D relaunch of Judge Dredd is moving forward with director Pete Travis (Vantage Point) from a screenplay written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later). This idea has been kicked around for a while now, but is finally taking form. The budget is estimated to be around $50 million.

Dredd is a law enforcement officer in a violent city of the future where uniformed Judges combine the powers of police, judge, jury and executioner. Dredd and his fellow Judges are empowered to arrest, sentence and even execute criminals on the spot. He was created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, although editor Pat Mills also deserves some credit for his early development.

  1. I loved this movie when I was younger! I think this was the movie that introduced me to Rob Schneider.
