‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Sequel Coming

Despite an overall negative response, A Nightmare on Elm Street has opened at #1 and earned $32.2 million this weekend at the box office, which doesn’t happen very often with horror movies. So, of course, there is already talks of a sequel. Platinum Dunes producer took to Twitter to say that a sequel is “already in the works.” This time presumably in 3D.

It must be noted that Platinum Dunes’ last remake, Friday the 13th, opened to $40 million, sparked interest in a sequel instantly, then had a 80% drop the following weekend and now the project is said to be dead. You can bet that Elm Street will follow the same path next week when Iron Man 2 hits theaters. So, who knows…

If you haven’t checked out the flick yet, be sure to read our negative review and our semi-positive review.
